Sometimes, no matter how hard you try to eat a healthy, balanced diet or what exercise you do, you can struggle to shift stubborn fatty deposits in certain areas of the body.

Research shows that where you store fat can be due to genetics! Whether it’s a little belly pouch, a double chin or back fat, several parts of your body can keep hold of stubborn fat through no fault of your own.

This is completely normal - and we can help!

How do fat Dissolving Injections work?

Fat dissolving injections destroy and remove fat cells in specific areas. There are numerous types available. The most commonly mentioned is Aqualyx injections but there are many great alternatives available. Adipocytes (energy storing cells) and fat cells are broken down with the use of sodium deoxycholate solution. This is a similar compound that the body produces naturally to break down fat in the diet. It causes a localised inflammatory which allows the destroyed fat cells to be broken down and then absorbed into the body and excreted via the kidneys.

Once the fat cells have been destroyed by the solution, the effect is permanent.

Are Fat Dissolving Injections safe?

Fat dissolving injections are a safe and effective treatment when administered by a medically trained, professional practitioner but like any intervention they can have side effects. Side effects of fat loss are related to the inflammation in the area treated, as the injection works. The most common side effects include tenderness, redness, bruising, and swelling. Although rare, serious complications can occur, including allergic reaction, hyperpigmentation, lumps or dips in the skin, nerve damage, infection, scarring, and skin necrosis (death of skin cells).

Do Fat Dissolving Injections work?

Fat dissolving injections are a good option for permanently removing unwanted fat cells in localised areas, targeting localised fat deposits. This means that with a good diet and plenty of exercise, the results can be permanent.

However, they aren’t a substitute for losing weight. This treatment complements a healthy lifestyle, so for long-term results, you must maintain a balanced diet and regular exercise. Our team of experts are here to help with that. Ask us about our medical weight loss programmes.

How many treatments do I need?

Treatments will be done approximately every 4 weeks and you may be advised to interspace treatments with other forms of fat reduction, like HIFU, to maximise the results. Treatments are repeated until the desired result has been achieved - and you will be guided during your initial consultation as to approximately how many treatments you will need. The number of treatments that you will need can also depend on other factors, such as the lifestyle changes you make to complement the procedure.

You begin to see results after about 2 weeks but it takes up to 8 weeks to see the full benefits, as the body needs time to drain and remove the fat cells.
