Treating Rosacea

Rosacea is a very common long-term skin condition that results in central redness and visible blood vessels on the face. Sometimes, in severe cases, the nose may be affected. We offer a number of treatments that control rosacea in clinic, that can be added to bespoke treatment plans depending on your skin type, severity of your Rosacea, and your timeframes.

Rosacea is more common in women, and in people with lighter skin tomes - but often the symptoms are worse for men.

Although there is no cure for Rosacea, the treatments we offer relieve the symptoms and drastically improve the skin’s appearance so that your skin is smooth, calm, and evenly toned.

What does Rosacea look like?

Rosacea appears as a blush like redness across the nose and cheeks, forehead and chin. Small broken blood vessels on the surface of the skin (mainly the cheeks) will be constantly visible and you may even get small pimples within the redness. Some other symptoms of Rosacea include:

  • Swelling or puffiness around the eyes

  • Discoloration/yellowing of the skin

  • A ‘webbed’ appearance on the cheeks

  • Painful eyelids/crusting around the root of the lashes

  • Stress

  • Heat

  • Sunlight

  • Certain products and foods

Answering the Rosacea Questions

“Does drinking water help Rosacea?”

Yes, we recommend drinking plenty of water every day for all skin conditions, including Rosacea. Not drinking enough water will contribute to your skin being dry, and you can help flush out toxins if you ensure you drink at least the daily recommended amount.

“Does Rosacea get worse with age?”

Unfortunately, yes. In almost all cases, Rosacea will gradually worsen, especially if untreated. However there are plenty of treatments and products that can successfully treat the appearance and severity of Rosacea - all of which we offer in clinc.

“Can I take antihistamines to avoid Rosacea flare ups?”

For people whose Rosacea flares up in certain environments, with particular products, or specific foods - you can take antihistamines beforehand, which has been proven to minimise the effects of triggers.

“Can I manage my Rosacea naturally?”

Eating a wide and varied healthy diet can help, the addition of probiotics can also benefit. Some people find supplements helpful, and these include Turmeric, Ginger, Aloe Vera and Honey. Additionally, plenty of water, and keeping a diary to identify what your triggers are so that you can avoid them.

We’ll then start you on a programme that is bespoke to your skin and consist of topical treatments in the clinic, and medical grade skin care at home.
